1. RULES
1.1. Participation in Mujeres en Foco International Film Festival is open to both genders of all nationalities. Contestants are required to be over 18 years-old for registering.
1.2. Once the registration period is closed, a number of films will be short-listed by Mujeres en Foco, on account of the relevance of the subject and its artistic value. One of the chosen films will be participating in terms of ‘Outside Competition Material’ while the rest will be considered as ‘Inside Competition Material’ for which a jury of professionals will be gathered. The long and short selected films will be chosen by the jury itself. The contestants which submitted the chosen films will be given a symbolic award. The movies, that will be included in the competition, will be announced in the Festival web page during the month of April. The organization will notify the decision to the contestants which works were chosen by mail.
1.3. Entry is open to fiction, documentary, animation and experimental features and short films, completed after 2009. Regardless of their original shooting format, movies must be submitted in DVD format and must include Spanish subtitles. Selected works will be screened using DVD copies.
1.4. Deadline for reception of the audiovisual productions is January 20, 2012.
1.5. It is required that all audiovisual productions deal with some of the following themes
- Women and health
- Women and migration
- Women and cultural practices
- Women and violence
- Women and work
- Women and political commitment
- Sexual Diversity
- Childhood and youth
- Women and environment
1.6. Audiovisual productions must be submitted with the corresponding application form (printed and sent via postal mail with the audiovisual material) to the following address:
1.7 The cost of shipping will be met by the contestant. Neither Mujeres en Foco organization will be liable for any potential damages that might occur to the material during shipping nor it would be responsible in case the material is delayed in Customs.
1.8. Entry and participation is free. The Festival is economically exempted from productions’ rights. If the films rights are owned by a producer, production company or distributor these shall notify the festival and send, enclosed to the audiovisual material, the application form in due time and course, this is under the same conditions than the rest of the contestants.
1.9. Once the film has been enrolled and selected it cannot be removed from the Festival’s programming. The selected materials will become part of the Festival’s video-library, which is to be used with education purposes.
1.10. One of the main objectives is to turn the festival into an itinerant practice, strengthening educational actions and training in native communities and small towns across the country. Thus, diferential socialization of genderdiferential socialization of genderdiferential socialization of gendMujeres en Foco will have the full authority to screen the films during the Festival as in the itinerant practices by the registration of the film.
Women on Focus will inform to the contestants about the date and place of the projection beforehand.
1.11. The application form, fully completed, should be submitted to the address mentioned with the material in DVD format. In the envelope should be included the contestant personal information and the title of the film. There should be sent two copies per film in two separated DVD’s as a CD with 3 photos of the film and one more of the director in high resolution (800 x 600 pixels). The organization suggests sending a film trailer and any other material which may be considered needed for broadcasting. In case the director sends two or more films to participate in the competition, each one of them should be copied in different DVD’s.
1.12. Results will be made public during March 2012 and only the contestants that submitted the selected works will be notified by e-mail.
